Industrial Activities Not Permitted Outdoors
To avoid introducing potential pollutants to the environment the following outdoor industrial activities are strictly forbidden while on Company premises or while on job-sites, unless allowed by local, state, and/or federal law:
Washing industrial equipment, including airstairs, vehicles, etc..
Washing facility exteriors and walkways (as long as no oil/grease is present) is permitted.
Using detergents or chemicals.
This includes bleach and Hotsy Aero One.
Exceptions may include "some" general household cleaners, such as Windex for cleaning windows (use should still remain limited), along with weed killers and pesticides; all when in accordance with the manufacture's directions.
Storing incoming/outgoing goods that contain chemicals.
These items shall be moved from a shipping courier's vehicle to a covered location or placed indoors immediately, and visa versa...
Storing equipment that can potentially contain pollutants, partial/incomplete goods, and/or waste, unless:
Kept under a covered area or when appropriately covered (e.g tarp).
Stored in a sealable, non-deteriorating container which is kept off the ground (e.g. pallet).
Construction debris and typical trash (e.g. wood fragments, plastics, cigarettes, bottles, etc...).
We all play a role in keeping our facilities and job-sites clean...please always discard trash and cigarettes appropriately.
This is just a summary of the many non-permittable activities that cannot be conducted outdoors. If you have a question on whether an activity may or may not be completed outdoors please consult with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS).
Should operations require, some of these activities may be permitted in the future. However, before such activities will be allowed we may have to put in place significant physical protective measures, build an extensive Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (SWP3), receive a permit from local or federal regulators (involving a small annual fee), and appropriate employees will need to be trained accordingly.
