Operating TIG Welder

NOTE: ONLY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED OPERATORS SHOULD USE THE TIG WELDER. THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ARE ONLY INTENDED TO SAFEGUARD THE OPERATOR AND EQUIPMENT FROM DAMAGE AND INJURY.

  1. Make sure you have your welding helmet, TIG welding gloves and safety glasses.

  2. Check if your welding curtains will block any arc rays and splatter. Position them in a way that will protect others in the surrounding area.

  3. Check if you have enough gas (Argon, Argon - Helium & Argon - Hydrogen) and welding filler rods to perform the job.

  4. Make sure the ground cable is grounded correctly. Inspect the tip for any deformity, buildup or burns.

  5. Check your power cord for any damage. Make sure the power cord is in good shape and securely plug.

  6. Start welding machine making sure you have the right setting. Also, check the type of metal you are going to weld.

  7. Place the metal piece and prep it for welding if needed (grinding away paint, corrosion or primer).

  8. Make sure the area where you are going to weld is not clutter or impeding the use of welding gun and filler rods freely.

  9. Warning. Make sure your ground contact is properly grounded and dry. Electric shocks can occur if it is otherwise.

  10. Wear your safety welding hood, clothes and gloves for protection.

  11. Make first spot weld to adjust the AC frequency and current (AMPS) of the TIG welding machine base on the first sample. Adjust as many times to obtain the optimum weld pattern and penetration.

  12. Proceed to weld making sure you are taking all the safety precautions.

  13. When you finished welding, do not touch the hot or recently weld spots.

  14. Turn off welder and shut off gas to avoid any sparks or electric shock.

  15. Clean your welding area from any welding debris after you finished your project.
