Operating Mini-Lathe
Wear safety glasses.
Do not wear gloves nor any loose clothing or jewelry.
Make sure the piece of metal that is going to be turn will fit on the lathe’s chuck.
Check dimensions for turning clearance.
Always verify that the metals you are turning are not combustible or flammable.
Open chuck and place metal inside lathe chuck. Close/tight the chuck with a chuck key.
Start lathe to verify that the material is evenly balanced in the spindle.
Adjust tailstock and blade that you are going to use for the cut/shaving.
Close or lower spindle cover before starting.
Start lathe and adjust speed and direction of rotation to the most appropriate setting.
Start first cut at low speed with very little penetration.
Lubricate piece that is been cut with a spray bottle of coolant.
Do not overload spindle with deeper cuts. This will result in overheating the electric motor and wearing out the cutting blade.
Never stick hand or reach around the spindle when is spinning. This might result in serious injury to your fingers, hands and arms.
When finish, turn off power and wait until unit completely stop.
Remove finishing product out of the chuck. Make sure the tailstock is out of the way to avoid any cuts or snags with the cutting blade.
Make sure to clean or sweep the lathe after you finish the job. We do not want any debris that might interrupt or hinder the optimal operation of the lathe.
