Operating MIG Welding

NOTE: ONLY TRAINED AND CERTIFIED OPERATORS SHOULD USE THE MIG WELDER. THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ARE ONLY INTENDED TO SAFEGUARD THE OPERATOR AND EQUIPMENT FROM DAMAGE AND INJURY.

  1. Make sure you have your welding helmet, welding gloves and safety glasses.

  2. Check if your welding curtains will block any arc rays and splatter. Position them in a way that will protect others in the surrounding area.

  3. Check if you have enough Argon gas and welding wire to perform the job.

  4. Inspect your ground cable and welding gun for any bad contacts or burn up tips.

  5. Check your power cord for any damage. Make sure the power cord is correctly and is securely plug it.

  6. Place the metal piece and prep it for welding if needed (grinding paint, corrosion or primer).

  7. Start welding machine making sure the area where you are going to weld is not clutter or nothing is impeding the use of the welding gun freely.

  8. Before you start welding, wear your welding hood and gloves for protection.

  9. Make first spot weld to adjust the speed of your wire and heat power of the welding machine base on the first welding sample.

  10. Proceed to weld making sure you are taking all the safety procedures and protection.

  11. When you finished welding, do not touch the hot or recently weld spots.

  12. Turn off welder and shut off Argon gas to avoid any sparks or electric shock.

  13. Clean your welding area from any welding debris.
