Operating Bench/Pedestal Mounted Wheel Grinder

  1. Locate individual safety equipment to wear before operation (face shield).

  2. Do not wear loose clothes or dangling jewelry that will get trap by the spinning wheels. This may cause serious injury.

  3. Inspect if wheel grinder is equip with side guards for the stone and wire wheel.

  4. If grinder is not equip with side guards unplug unit and report to your supervisor or manager.

  5. Make sure the power cord is in good condition.

  6. Are bench or pedestal grinders permanently mounted?

  7. Check for any obstructions on the work rest area.

  8. When powering grinder position yourself away from the spinning stone for a few seconds until unit is at full speed.

  9. When grinding a piece of metal use the work rest area for support.

  10. Do not hold it in your hand without any support. It may cause injury.

  11. Make sure that any piece of metal you are grinding or buffing is sufficiently long enough to avoid any scrap or injuries to hands or skin from the wheels.

  12. Do not overload the grinder with heavier pieces that might damage the grinder or brake the grinding stone.

  13. Avoid using the grinder for longer period of time. This might overheat the unit and grinding stone.

  14. When finishing grinding make sure to turn off unit.
