Enhanced Cleaning Procedure
These guidelines reflect steps Dow Aero, LLC (“Company”) is taking for its facilities and job sites, and is provided only for informational purposes. Appropriate actions to be taken at non-Company locations should be independently determined in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations.
These guidelines are designed to help reduce the risk of spread of infectious diseases such as influenza (flu), common cold, and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) from contact with contaminated surfaces. The Company’s facilities and job sites must adopt the following enhanced cleaning processes. These guidelines may be superseded by federal, state, and local law or regulations. Consult state and local health officials to ensure any community-specific procedures and guidelines are followed for cleaning and disinfection.
Areas to be Cleaned
The primary concern for cleaning and disinfection of areas and surfaces where frequent human contact might provide a reservoir for an infectious disease. While each area will be different, the following common areas should receive focused attention:
Areas of Human Congregation
e.g. reception areas, shared/open offices, conference rooms, kitchens, lockers, etc.
Hygiene Facilities
e.g. lavatories/toilets, shower rooms, hand-washing stations, etc.
Dispensaries
e.g. medical and first aid stations, eyewash stations, etc.
Frequently touched surfaces for focused enhanced cleaning include, but are not limited to:
Desktops, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mouse/trackpad, telephone equipment, printer, handheld scanners, remotes, and mobile devices (e.g. phones and tablets);
For electronic devices, use cleaning products that are safe for the equipment per manufacture instructions.
Doorknobs and handles;
Access key pads;
Contractor badges;
Light switches and dimmer switches;
Switches and controls;
Work surfaces;
All chair rests and arms;
Canteen tables and chairs, crockery, trays, and cutlery;
Sinks, taps and kitchen areas;
Toilets, including all surfaces;
Water fountains and drink dispensers and vending machines;
Handrails / banisters;
Workstations; and
Common-use office supplies (e.g. staplers, dry erase supplies, etc.).
Cleaning frequency
Cleaning Staff
The common areas identified above should be cleaned a minimum of two times daily at the beginning and end of the shift. The general guideline is that the more people who touch surfaces, the more frequently that surface should be cleaned. Employee or third party contractor cleaning staff will be responsible for regular cleaning of common areas frequented by personnel.
Individuals
Employees that share a common work area, shall clean the area a minimum of two times during the shift at both the beginning and end.
Cleaning of Non-Office Areas
Our facilities and job sites shall have specific cleaning requirements for production areas and shipping/receiving per Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S). In many cases, these procedures will include disinfection that will reduce the risk posed by viruses such as influenza and COVID- 19, along with other pathogens.
That said, existing procedures may not include details for disinfection in all areas. In these cases, to the extent that these enhanced cleaning guidelines can be implemented without compromising safety, quality, or other production requirements they should be implemented. At a minimum, employees and/or cleaning crew must wipe down the following with an approved disinfectant before and after their shift.
Production Areas
Work surfaces;
Powered industrial vehicles and associated charging areas;
Hoist pendant and associated equipment;
Machine controllers and all high touch areas on the machine (e.g., doors);
Machine tooling, toolboxes, and tools;
Chemical storage cabinet doors/latches;
Badge readers / time tracking terminals;
Turnstiles;
Scanners;
Ladders;
Hand rails;
Equipment for working at heights; and
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) equipment storage.
Shipping & Receiving
Common surfaces / desks; and
All equipment touch points and controls (e.g. pallet wrappers, dock lock controls, etc.).
Restricted Areas
Must be cleaned by personnel who meet site-specific entry requirements.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Recommendations While Conducting Enhanced Cleaning Activities
Use face shields or safety glasses with side shields.
Shall maintain impact resistance requirements when indicated for particular area.
Wear non-latex gloves.
Dispose of gloves after cleaning and wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
