Getting Started with BambooHR Time Tracking

Dow Aero, LLC (“Company”) uses BambooHR to simplify time tracking for hourly employees and management.

Upon starting a shift, along with returning from meal periods or unpaid breaks, hourly employees shall manually clock in from the BambooHR mobile app or web portal. Likewise, hourly employees shall manually clock out when ending their shift and upon starting a meal period or unpaid break. Your direct superior must approve all work performed outside of your designated regular work hours before starting.

If interested in using the BambooHR mobile application on your personal or business mobile device, the app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play. To track your time within the BambooHR app, you must grant location access; your location is currently provided to the Company only at the moment in which you are clocking in or out.

The following materials provide an introductory overview on how hourly employees can track, edit, and finalize their timesheets for each pay period.

Tracking Time Worked

You can quickly clock in or out with two simple steps, as shown below:

Mobile App

Clocking In

  1. Launch the free BambooHR mobile app on either your iOS or Android device.

  2. Select the large Clock In button to begin tracking your time from the Time Clock widget towards the top of the app.

    • If this is your first attempt at using the Time Clock widget, you may need to share your location with the BambooHR.

      • Your location data is only viewable by the Company at the very moment you clock in or out.

Clocking Out

  1. Launch the free BambooHR mobile app on either your iOS or Android device.

  2. Select the large Clock Out button to stop tracking your time from the Time Clock widget towards the top of the app.

    • If this is your first attempt at using the Time Clock widget, you may need to share your location with the BambooHR.

      • Your location data is only viewable by the Company at the very moment you clock in or out.

Web Portal

Clocking In

  1. Login to your BambooHR account using either your work or personal email address, along with your account password.

  2. Select the large Clock In button from the Time Clock widget (on the left side of your account’s Home tab) to start tracking your time.

Clocking Out

  1. Login to your BambooHR account using either your work or personal email address, along with your account password.

  2. Select the large Clock Out button from the Time Clock widget (on the left side of your account’s Home tab) to stop tracking your time.

Project Tracking

If required by your superior to track your time worked for particular tasks, whether in whole or in part, adding project tracking when clocking in and out takes just seconds to complete.

If an available project within BambooHR’s Time Tracking feature is assigned to you, a dropdown arrow will appear next to the Clock In button on the Time Clock widget. Selecting the dropdown arrow will present you with a list of available projects to choose from. When a project is selected, it will immediately start tracking your time worked and time spent on a particular project.

Your Department Lead or direct superior shall provide specific requirements in writing if Project Tracking is required in your work area or on a particular task.

Locating Timesheets

Reviewing and making corrections to your timesheets can be just as easy as tracking your time. To locate your timesheets, either:

Time Clock Widget

  1. Select the My Timesheets button from the Time Clock widget.

    • Available from either the mobile app or web portal.

My Info Tab

Mobile App

  1. Select the My Info tab from the bottom navigation bar.

  2. Select your Timesheets tab.

Web Portal

  1. Select the My Info tab from the top navigation bar.

  2. Select your Timesheets tab.

Correcting Timesheets

Timesheet errors are inevitably expected to occur on occasion. Nevertheless, BambooHR Time Tracking makes correcting your timesheets very easy before being reviewed by a superior or other appropriate management.

To make a change to your timesheet, you can do so using the step-by-step guide below:

Mobile App

  1. Select the day that needs to be modified to open the Day Details page.

    • Add

      • Select the button at the top-right of the page to launch the Add Time Entry screen.

      • Correctly enter the start/end times, add project (as necessary), and record a mandatory note.

    • Edit

      • Select the appropriate entry to enter the Edit Time Entry page.

      • Properly edit the start or end time, add a project (if available), and record a mandatory note.

    • Delete

      • Select the appropriate entry to enter the Edit Time Entry page.

      • Select Delete Time Entry at the bottom of the page and confirm.

  2. Save updates to be returned to the Timesheets tab.

Repeat as necessary. Any modifications are recorded automatically and are available for review by a direct superior and other appropriate Company management.

Web Portal

  1. Select the day that needs to be modified for a dropdown of time tracking entries.

    • Add

      • Select the + Add Time Entry to launch the Enter Time Worked window.

      • Correctly enter the start/end times, add project (as necessary), and record a mandatory note.

    • Edit

      • Select the appropriate entry to launch the Enter Time Worked window.

      • Properly edit the start or end time, add a project (if available), or record a mandatory note.

    • Delete

      • Select the appropriate entry to launch the Enter Time Worked window.

      • Select Delete Time Entry at the bottom-right of the window and confirm.

  2. Save updates to be returned to the Timesheets tab.

Repeat as necessary. Any modifications are recorded automatically and are available for review by a direct superior and other appropriate Company management.

Timesheet Approvals

You should review your timesheets to verify accuracy towards the last shift you will work during a payroll cycle.

Your direct superior, or another appropriate designee, must generally approve your timesheets by 11 am on the Monday before a payroll date.

Reminder emails about timesheet verifications and approvals are submitted automatically from BambooHR to both you and your direct superior.

A Company payroll representative can only make modifications to timesheets after direct superior approval. Any changes needing to be made after approval should be strictly limited as your payroll could be delayed, incorrectly calculated, or correction fees could be applied.
